with Vince Anderson,
Texas A&M University Assistant Track Coach;
Back-to-Back-to-Back Men's & Women's NCAA Champions (2011, 2010, 2009)

Develop technically sound and fast hurdlers using the coaching philosophy and drill progressions from the back-to-back-to-back NCAA National Championship staff at Texas A&M.

Vince Anderson stresses the connection between hurdling and sprinting throughout the video. He gives you drills in five major areas related to hurdling and ends with four exercises that will develop the strength and athletic ability needed for hurdling.

You don't need to master a ton of drills and techniques to improve your hurdling. Coach Anderson will show you how to use fewer drills and get better results. Using this refined approach and training an equal number of speed days, your hurdlers will see faster times--and you will produce an overall better conditioned athlete.

Speed and coordination are equally essential in the development of the 'sprint' hurdler. Anderson trains his hurdlers as sprinters versus training them as hurdlers who do some sprint work.

Through these drills, Coach Anderson will show you how to:

  • Move hurdlers from 4 steps to 3 steps between hurdles
  • Develop speed between hurdles
  • Break down the phases of the trail leg and increase acceleration after the hurdle
  • Develop overall athletic ability - a key to hurdling
Included in this video are the topics on Hurdle Variables, Mobility Training, Frequency Drills, Hurdle Approaches, Speed Hurdling and Strength Based Exercises.

Coach Anderson explains how the athletes will develop in the drill areas, throughout the season, and passes along modifications you can make in order to assist development. These modifications will assist coaches at different levels in effectively using the drills. Anderson inserts coaching points throughout the video to supplement the demonstrations by both a male and female collegiate hurdler. He also shares how you can adapt the drills to your athletes' level!

Packed full of useful skills and drills, this video will help all level of athletes and coaches improve not only their speed, but there hurdle technique as well. Whether you are a developmental, collegiate, or sub-elite athlete, the skills and techniques shown in this video will help make you not only faster, but technically proficient as well.

43 minutes. 2012.
